Global Warming Scam

Sorry to disappoint but this man made global warming 'thang' is just one big load of hot air.

The impression given by believers (wrongfully) is that there exists a consensus among scientists on opinions regarding global warning and that mans activities are providing the change to our weather systems.

Two recent books on the subject should be read before drawing incorrect conclusions on what is actually happening with our weather and we start uncontrolled 'tree hugging' or hugging anything else for that matter.

I do not profess to be an expert on the weather but I do take an active interest in what may be going on with our planet - good or bad.

I think the very first question to ask is 'are we just experiencing weather changes (very normal I understand)' or something a bit more sinister (very abnormal I understand)?

The two books I would recommend to bring yourself up to date on this topic are Ian Pilmer's book Heaven and Earth: The Missing Science and An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming by Nigel Lawson.

Both books are by established authorities on the subject and using logical reasoning instead of scaremongering attempt to put the truth in front of the masses if they but read their opinions.

Both writers go a long way to debunk this particular issue with a more reasoned approach than some of the scare-mongering tactics of certain world renowned politicians who should really know better.

That being said we as a species seemed pre-disposed to 'wars and rumours of wars' and threats of death and destruction falling on our heads from on high.

Just about any fictional disaster movie is guaranteed on most occasions to be a box office hit, think 'The Day After Tommorrow', 'Armageddon', 'Twister' or Dante's Peak to see just what I mean.

Armageddon

List Price: $14.99
The Day After Tomorrow (Widescreen Edition)

Dante's Peak - Collector's Edition

OK, getting back to the writers I mentioned they both systematicaly and methodically destroy most percieved wisdom on the subject and without 'naming names' identify groups and scientists who have quite simply got the science wrong.

It appears that we have had 'global warming' before and also 'global cooling' as well - it is called weather changes and as such is perfectly natural. It is not caused by man at all and some of it actually took place when the worlds human population was a lot smaller than we have just now and before industrialisation happened to pollute our atmosphere.

Computer modelling which has been put forward to project the affects and changes we may experience are flawed and where they have been used they have been creatively adjusted to give the frightening scenario we are living through at the moment.

The problem with computer modelling is that if indeed it is so clever how come it did not predict the global financial downturn we are now going through why was this not foreseen?

You like me be wondering who would benefit from creating this global panic about warming anyway?

I think that some groups of research scientists are getting very healthy financial support to prove what they have already established in their own minds as their version of the truth.

Given that we only have human records of weather patterns for the last 150 years and world temperatures from the point of the invention of the thermometer and the world has experienced far greater periods of hot and cold periods in the past I don't think we should lose much sleep over computer simulations and models.  I wish we could have some global warming it is freezing where I am at the moment and I would welcome a visit from the Polar bears.

The other issue is that there is a positive spin on global warming it makes places easier to plant and grow crops which are to cold at the moment.  People live in places from the far North to the burning hot equator which must be at the very least a 20 degree difference rather than the paltry 2 degrees difference increase caused by global warming.

If we really need something to fear or get scared about I propose the H1N1 Swine Flu scenario as the next contender for scaring the public well before our city centers turn into deserts.

I have done a lot of reading about this, not because I am interested in "saving the planet" or that I am big in any political sense. (I suppose before I go any further, I should say that I'm not the type to buy in to hype, and I believe the more attention you give to something, the larger it grows or spreads, therefore, I never bought in to the global warming hooey. As far as politics, it's not that I simply don't participate, but I am middle of the road) with that being said, here is my issue and what caused me to look in to all of this for myself. They keep screaming about how the earth is heating up...temperatures are rising...the earth is melting...blah, blah, blah. Well, I'm in Michigan, good old USA, and last summer was COLD! As far as summers go. I remember a few years ago, we were in the 90's all the time, last summer I don't think we made it out of the 80's. And right now...right now it is 14 flipping degrees outside! Cooler in the summer, colder in the winter...and I can't name any off the top of my head, but in the states, there have been more places last year that got snow that rarely ever see snow, and places that got record amounts of snow. Now I suppose, if you look in to it a bit further, this could all be 'global warming' as well....Anyway, since I have been cold myself the last year or so, I started checking in to it. And definitely believe this is a natural earth cycle of cooling and warming, which is why right now, our seasons are leveling out and there doesn't seem to be the distinct 4 seasons anymore. We used to spend a pretty fair amount of time along the thermometer, and now we seem to run through the 40's and 50's and summer has become a lot of high 60's, 70's and 80's if we are lucky, we used to hit 90's. So if I can see this, why can't all these so called "informed" and "educated" alarmists that keep writing half truths in books and movies?? And any simple simon can surf the net and find facts and figures. July 13, 1936, Michigan had a record high of 112*...we were 30* short of that all this summer...where is the warming trend? Here is the link to that site by the way.

Just irritates me that the facts are out there for all to see and so many people just refuse to check for themselves and listen to politicians...and politicians with the documented facts, still lie to us.

thanks for your comments - I suspect the way to go is to address the population size as they have done successfuly in China (a one child family now the norm)and India where parents are paid a bonus to restrict family size. this seems far easier to implement than forcing people or passing laws to stop people living their lives without choice.

Kudos. A little about fear....

What drives people to make many important decisions? All too often it is fear. Soap sellers have long made their living from people fearing that they "smell bad", for instance (not that I'm against soap, but its an example - a related soap example is the dishwashing soap that preys upon your fear of looking old/wrinkled hands - palmolive, and advertise that their soap reduces wrinkles...). Up the fear scale, you've got fear of getting close to someone, or fear of losing someone, etc etc. But there is one fear that many in advertising, or politics know is a reliable button to press on us. Fear of death (or the perception of it).

And this is where the global warming alarmists come in.

Today we've got greedy "soap sellers" (carbon credits, green energy, more taxes for politicians to spend, etc) trying to convince you that you are going to die. If not you, well, then your children will die (which many consider to be the ugliest kind of lies, exploiting children, such as the video introduced at the opening of the IPCC this week showing a young child being chased by climate change catastrophes such as tornadoes, tidal waves, and even an earthquake! Pretty heinous fearmongering).

And this is how they're trying to exploit us - through fear. People make all kinds of irrational decisions based on fear. The emotion clouds our judgment, it causes us to perceive facts in a distorted way - and they know it - they've used this to sell everything from soap to life insurance for decades (how about those blatant home security system tv ads lately where the guy breaks in on women, preying on their fears of rape?).

Now they're using it to sell the biggest product in history. My hubs don't say this explicitly regarding the climate alarmists, but it's the underlying truth - fear is being abused to drive this agenda. You sound like you have seen right through it.

And a final thought on fear - If we let fear make our decisions then we're not very far above the animals, which rely largely on their raw emotions.

Best wishes,

MNichopolis
